Do you like shopping? Is there anything that can be done to make the experience better? We asked you these questions and here is what you said.

The first and most obvious point that stood out was that the females among you like shopping more than the males. No surprise there then. If you are male, your ideal shopping experience is to get in, get what you need, and get out again. Says socker, I only go shopping when I have to and usually know exactly what I want, make my purchase and leave.

For ladies, a great shopping experience is more likely to include the words browsing, relaxing, and fun. Victory says I make a fun day of shopping, have lunch out and coffee….I love to go shopping. For some, even if they did not have the budget to buy anything, they just loved to window shop instead.

Some of the positive shopping experiences you mentioned included helpful sales assistants, easy parking, and the excitement of finding a bargain.

Those who didn’t like shopping complained about the shops being too busy, too much choice making it confusing, arguments with partners, unhelpful sales assistants, not being able to find the right size, and poor quality items. Unfortunately, it seems like the negatives outweigh the positives for our Cafestudy members.

So what can be done to make shopping a better experience?

Suggestions included rewards programs, more offers and free parking, However, there was one thing that everyone agreed that would make shopping easier, and more fun. Better customer service. Says Jane Yap, price matters, but a great customer service is usually the thing that makes me want to shop at the same place again. The right level of attention - not too much and not too little, along with sales staff who seem to really care about their job and helping customers will go a long way to making the whole experience more enjoyable.

And finally, there are some who will never enjoy shopping even with the best customer service, top discounts and no crowds - so spare a thought for this long suffering husband!

I hate going shopping with my wife, because all she wants to do is look at stuff and never buy. And when she does buy she spends so much its not funny, she can’t make her mind up and takes all day, just to buy a pair of shoes, which she has got 100 pairs, like she needs more. I went car shopping with her the other day what a nightmare, I won’t go into that. OK OK OK got to go, she wants to go, yeppp you guessed it SHOPPING.

I hate shopping, I prefer to get in and out of shops as quickly as I can. On the other hand my wife loves it. For example, when I was working in The Torres Strait we went Cairns on leave and she spent almost 5 hours going though the one small shopping centre, Thank heavens I didn't go with her thst day.

I don't mind shopping although my time is currently limited. I have a Woolworths supermarket opposite my house now in a recently opened apartment complex at the top of my street and my chemist moved in there also on a deal with management for a couple of years. I don't need the car and I don't have to go to other surrounding centres which are numerous. I rarely use the Self Serve because I often have e-vouchers from survey work which I find very helpful on an aged pension. I go for the specials in the main and homebrands or quick sale lines.

As a male and an introvert, I hate shopping. I don't fancy going out for clothes or food at all. Rather just save my money. But, oddly enough, I LOVE supermarkets, arts and crafts stores and stores like DAISO. I speculate that it's the range of items and the lack of human interaction - did I say I'm introverted? I prefer store clerks who let you peruse for yourself and only help when needed.

Love shopping but I'll set a budget which I don't usually stick to but it serves as a guideline on how much I should spend averagely but I mostly just window shop as I know I could save my money for something better but when there's sales that's another story.

I love Shopping although as I have aged I get tired and my feet and legs hurt more now so that takes a little of the enjoyment away. I do find that many people seem to be quite rude now and will shove and push and get very impatient. Getting back to my age again I also think it would be nice in the larger Department and Variety stores if there was a seat in a few strategic places. The only seats I ever see is in the shoe sections and they are often so low they are only suitable the very young and toddlers. I find most of the sales assistants are good but such a lot do not look happy in their jobs unfortunately. It must be quite hard for them when they have to hear complaints and sometimes abuse from some customers so I think a little more respect both ways would be worthwhile to making the whole shopping experience better.. Everything has to be so fast too now as everybody is so busy all the time with so much schedule in our lives, we live by the clock all the time so nobody wants to waste time waiting in queues etc. I think we would all feel better if we took the time to smell the roses and not get so uptight about the small things.

I really do not enjoy shopping and do as little as possible. I just feel anxious and want it over as soon as possible

I like shopping but I only go when I need something. I am not someone to just go shopping to look and browse. If I need shoes I will go and buy shoes and that is is. I enjoy grocery shopping as I think of all the yummy things that I am going to cook and eat.

For me, shopping is just an entertainment. But there is one condition I must be aware of what search and want to buy. Aimless wandering the shops, is not my liking.

I love the going shopping idea, I just hate paying for things as cash soon runs out. Then there is the quandary of what to throw out to make room for new items.

I love shopping but I hate wasting money and leaving my pet at home having a fit.

I don't mind going shopping as long it's not too crowded. I avoid weekend shopping for that reason, it gets really noisy.

Yes l too like the during the week shopping in the city area , far easier to get a park and less crowds to shop in , l never line up to sales for this reason any more , the exercise is great for loosing weight so long as l control my window shopping to window shopping only .

I also hate shopping however for slightly different reasons.
My worst shopping experience would be in larg shopping centres as I need fresh air or I become panicked!
I prefer strip shopping however I hate browsing g so therefore if I need to purchase something, I will take a list and go straight to the shop and make my purchases and then leave.
I do, however love to shop online!! It is pure heaven for me and I also do my supermarket shopping this way!! - no more shouting g children, screaming babies etc. etc. and I also get to leave a note for my packer!! E.g. Please make sure my tomatoes are firm - they always are!!
So......this is definitely the only way I like to shop!!!
